Actress Keke Palmer was recently shamed by Darius Daulton, the father of her child, for wearing what was seen to be “a revealing black dress” to Usher’s concert, sparking outrage on the internet.

After having seen the video, Daulton responded with a tweet saying “it’s the outfit tho.. You a mom”, with a follow up tweet saying “We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother of his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is. This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case.”

Regardless, Palmer continued to post pictures of herself and the infamous dress after his tweets. Many praised her for her beauty and confidence, while others continued to voice out their opinions on what a mother “should” look and act like.

Women deserve the right to be themselves outside of stereotypical familial roles. Motherhood has its own rollercoaster of trials and tribulations, and to see Palmer live out this phase of her life in confidence and enjoyment—while also being a good mother—says she is nothing less than a QUEEN. Mothers like her provide love in the household; they also deserve to provide love for themselves.

Palmer even took this chance to spread body positivity and love to all mothers going through a tough time in their life. That’s why it’s important to know who stands with you and who doesn’t. You could be in your toughest time, trying your best, and they’d still be dimming down your shine. 

Great on Mama Keke for handling herself like the queen she is. No mother should let their crown drop for anyone.
