In recent years, there has been a rise in responsible pet ownership. There has also been a growing preference for adopting pets from shelters, rescue centers, and even from the streets.
This is no surprise, as we all know that pets of all forms can provide us with unconditional love, loyalty, happiness, and even emotional support—especially following the pandemic.
Pandemic puppies are described as the dogs that were adopted during the pandemic, as there was an increase in dog adoptions during the beginning of the lockdowns. Pandemic puppies are also linked to a lot of people’s need for something positive within their lives. After all, dogs truly are a man’s best friend.
All over TikTok recently, Gen Z even jokes about the Cat Distribution System which basically explains how you don’t adopt a cat, the cat adopts you. This phenomenon is all about how the universe has a way of pairing cats and people through chance encounters as we go about our regular routines, and the formation of a bond until we eventually adopt these now-familiar cats.
With the growing interest in pet adoption, a positive effect is that more people empathize with stray animals and consider taking them in more than ever. Therefore, if you have the desire for companionship and formation of strong emotional bonds, you should consider taking a stroll outside.
Who knows, the distribution system just might find you.
